Make Data Centers Pay Their Fair Share
Data centers represent rising electricity costs for entire communities in Pennsylvania. This is unacceptable during a time of already rising costs for gas, groceries, housing, and utilities. That's why I voted YES on the Data Center Act - House Bill 1834 - which passed the PA House yesterday. House Bill 1834 would: Protect ratepayers by explicitly prohibiting large data centers from shifting costs to households and small businesses. Require data centers to pay their fair sh

PA Minimum Wage needs to be RAISED
Since 2009, Pennsylvania's minimum wage has been kept as low as possible -- $7.25/hour. In 2026, no one can live on that. Multiple times, PA House Democrats voted to raise it to $15 per hour and tie it to inflation thereafter - Like we did AGAIN yesterday. Will GOP State Senate leaders block it AGAIN? It’s time for State Senate leadership to stop supporting tax breaks for billionaires and start supporting our working families. You can read more about this bill on the Daily Lo

Family Care Act
I recently voted YES for House Bill 200 - The Family Care Act. This bipartisan bill requires employers to provide at least 12 weeks of paid family leave for employees. Under current federal law, employers are only required to provide unpaid family leave, a policy that forces many to return to work sooner than they would like. HB 200 passed the House and now it is our State Senators' responsibility to get it passed into law. Read all about the House Bill here: https://www.pale

Shielding Pennsylvania Families during Bankruptcy
State Rep Chris Pielli introduced legislation with Rep Kristine Howard to strengthen bankruptcy protections for Pennsylvania families. The bill would move the state beyond outdated federal minimum exemptions and establish stronger, state-specific safeguards to better protect homeowners’ equity and essential personal property. Chris believes working families deserve a fair opportunity to recover and rebuild during times of financial hardship. Read all about it here:...

Keep ICE Away from Our Polling Places
“President Trump and his allies have clearly stated that they intend to ‘nationalize’ our elections,” Pielli said. “Both our national and state constitutions are clear that we control our own elections. As such, we will not allow intimidation of our voters or suppression of our free and fair elections by federal authorities seeking to overturn the will of the people and our democracy.” Read all about it here: https://www.mychesco.com/a/news/government/pa-lawmakers-move-to-bar

Hold ICE Accountable
The tragic death of Alex Pretti begs the question as to how long we must suffer the killing of peaceful, citizen protestors, the illegal detainment and injuries inflicted on American citizens, the forceful entry into our homes without judicial warrants, the sinister efforts to focus arrests on families and children rather than actual criminals, a weaponized DOJ investigating victims rather than ICE perpetrators, and the military siege of our cities. 250 years ago, the found

Proposed Resolution Reassures ‘Ineligible’ Candidates Kept Off Ballots
"President Donald Trump is ineligible to run for a third term in office, but that hasn’t stopped him from floating the idea to the press. But whether or not the president’s comments are in jest, some of his opponents in Pennsylvania are worried. Rep. Chris Pielli, D-West Chester, is concerned enough that he’s put forward a resolution in the Pennsylvania House. If passed, it would urge the Secretary of the Commonwealth to comply with election law by removing from the ballot “a

Pielli Joint Statement on Prohibiting State Dollars Being Spent on Federal Immigration Enforcement
Dozens of law enforcement agencies across Pennsylvania are currently utilizing state and local resources to enforce federal civil immigration laws. While these departments are free to work with the federal government as they see fit, recent events and studies have shown that these partnerships, known as 287(g) agreements, have been frequently found to be counterproductive to one of the main goals of law enforcement: keeping communities safe. Ample research has demonstrated th

Pielli Takes Aim at ICE as Pennsylvania Moves to Block State Aid to Feds
"A new flashpoint in the national immigration battle erupted in Harrisburg as State Rep Chris Pielli introduced legislation Thursday to bar Pennsylvania from using state taxpayer dollars to assist federal immigration enforcement, setting up a direct confrontation with the Trump administration’s aggressive expansion of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. [Pielli] said the bill would prohibit state and local law enforcement agencies from spending state-appropriated funds

Representatives Pielli & Khan Introduce Natural Gas Severance Tax
Pennsylvania is one of the nation’s largest natural gas producers but is one of the few states that still does not have a natural gas severance tax. Reps Tarik Khan and Chris Pielli introduced new legislation to make sure our communities get a fair return when gas is drilled in our Commonwealth. “The Marcellus Shale is our natural resource. As such, we should not only suffer its impacts but share in its benefits with a fair severance shale tax to benefit our schools, our seni
