From Jim Wylie, Sierra Club Southeastern PA Group Leader:
Sierra Club is extremely pleased to endorse Chris Pielli for reelection to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 156th District. Representative Pielli is an outstanding champion for the environment in Harrisburg. His reelection is vital to advancing our environmental agenda (access to clean air and water for everyone, and a swift and equitable transition to 100% renewable energy) in the upcoming term.
During his first term in the Pennsylvania House, Representative Pielli has voted to support key pro-environment legislation, like the Solar for Schools Program, Community Solar, Funding for EV Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency Standards for Appliances - earning Chris a 100% score on the Conservation Voters of PA (CVPA) Environmental Scorecard for 2023-24.
Chris is a longtime resident of Chester County, US Army Vet and graduate of Temple Law School (thanks to the GI Bill). As an attorney, Chris served as a part-time Chester County Public Defender while also establishing his own practice. As a West Goshen Township Supervisor, Chris served as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and Chairman of the Comprehensive Plan Task Force Committee. In Chris’s first term as our representative for PA House District 156 he served on the Judiciary, Commerce, Games & Fisheries, Environmental Resources & Energy, and the Veteran Affairs & Emergency Preparedness
Committees.
And we applaud Rep Pielli’s leadership to introduce legislation in support of native plants, insects and other pollinators through his initiative called Protecting Insects and Conserving Monarch Butterfly Habitats (see co-sponsor memo). The first bill will encourage any new construction of a garden, lawn, or green space at a state facility to include insecticide-free native plants and flowers. A second bill will address the conservation of wild native terrestrial insects by adding language that protects them under Pennsylvania’s Wild Resource Conservation Act.
