Pielli Takes Aim at ICE as Pennsylvania Moves to Block State Aid to Feds

"A new flashpoint in the national immigration battle erupted in Harrisburg as State Rep Chris Pielli introduced legislation Thursday to bar Pennsylvania from using state taxpayer dollars to assist federal immigration enforcement, setting up a direct confrontation with the Trump administration’s aggressive expansion of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

[Pielli] said the bill would prohibit state and local law enforcement agencies from spending state-appropriated funds to enforce federal immigration law. It would also formally lock into state statute the Pennsylvania State Police’s long-standing policy of limited cooperation with federal immigration authorities, first adopted in 2019."
